PTA approved or non-PTA?
A PTA-approved iPhone works with Pakistani SIM cards. A non-PTA iPhone is blocked on local networks after a short grace period and works on Wi-Fi only, unless its owner registers it and pays the applicable taxes. Used iPhones are popular in Pakistan because they hold value and get long software support. Check:
- Battery health — Settings → Battery → Battery Health. A low maximum capacity means a replacement soon.
- Parts history — recent iOS versions show whether the screen, battery or camera has been replaced with non-genuine parts (Settings → General → About). A non-genuine screen lowers value.
- Find My is off — the seller must sign out of iCloud and erase the phone in front of you. A phone locked to someone else’s Apple ID is close to worthless.
